The Devotional
Papa “J” says
Most things taste better with a little seasoning, when dining with others make sure your talk is gracious while salting the conversation! Philippians 4:6
Have you ever made a promise to someone and failed to keep it? I am sure you have even if your not! Life is made up of broken promises. “I promise” these words seem to set up like an ambush, you know, say those words to someone and watch the opposition begin. Even God has been troubled with making promises. But God, is God and since He is, He can take as long as is needed to fulfill His promises. What is on my mind? God promised Israel to have the land of Canaan, Israel to have descendants that out number the sand on the seashore and for blessing (spiritual and material) all of which is yet to be realized by Israel. It is enough when Satan opposes God, don't you think? But what about Christendoms opposition? One would think that the church would not oppose God's promises or challenges. But in today's theological circles this is exactly what is happening. Mainline Protestant and Roman Catholic churches hold to and are teaching a system called Replacement Theology. A system that puts the church in the position to oppose God and to prevent Him from fulfilling His promises to the nation of Israel. This is why some Protestant churches sound so Roman. An empire that rebirths in the last days.
The Gospel of John
John 1:1-4 How powerful is God? God is so powerful that He only needs to speak and creation obeys His Word. So powerful that even the Word of God became physical flesh and bones. John 1:14. The Word of God is God Himself, The Word of God for the purposes of time was there when time began. The Word of God agreed with God, or is One with God. God's Word does not fail.
I find these verses so very unique. Without the Word of God nothing exists. If God took His Word promise of Creation back, all would disappear. Notice verse 3, through the Word of God everything was made. If it wasn't made it wasn't needed. One might asked. What was not needed? Really a dumb question since all we have for sure is what God through His Word provided.
Like the water that does not overstep it's boundaries unless God allows it, man is limited to what God gives. God gives light, light that shines in the darkness, man oversteps his boundaries by living in darkness, thus he does not understand the Word of God. The fact is that the word in verse five reveals the lack of man's ability to comprehend the Light of God meaning that no matter how much man in his darkness tries to understand, he can never in that condition apprehend or lay hold of the Light. This also is a promise or challenge that religion would like to change.
