The Devotional

Papa “J” says

Floods, earthquakes, wars and rumors and another 7.2 in California???

I don't know about you, but I sense in me that my passion for God moves like the tide of the sea. Robert Robinson wrote the hymn, Come Thou Fount of Many Blessings”. Then, he walked away from his First Love. Would it be just coincidence or do you think that it would be the Mercy and Grace of our God? Who! Placed a woman across from him one day on a stagecoach and placed this hymn in his hand, which was his autobiographical story and said. “Sir, I'd like your opinion of this hymn. (The woman did not know that he had written the hymn) It was a renewing moment, he was confronted by God, through the woman, with his own words. Words of prone to wander, LORD I feel it, prone to leave the One I love. We are going to take some time with this subject over the next few days. It is my feeling that many of us saints are like sailors lost in a sea of wandering emotion. Bill Bright who has gone home to the LORD wrote a small book called; “First Love” We will take a look at some of the material in the book. When people would ask Bill what they could pray for, for him. He would always answer with; “Pray that I will not leave my first love.”

The Third Epistle of John

3 John 1 -4 The key phrase of this book is the same as the that of Second John, “the Truth” and it seems to me that the older I become, the more concerned I am about truth. Maybe it is the way of all elderly people? In that the more you see in this world, the more convinced you are that much of life's truth is covered in the dross of deception.

Here in the apostles opening words we can see clearly that he is not apprehensive about his love for Gaius. John the elder, calls Gaius wellbeloved, in this form it is used only three times in the New Testament. The route word is agape in Greek with the letters “tos” added. Literally that Gaius is continually expressing the love of God, in truth.

This should encourage us to seek the joy that is expressed by John here. Today look around you and rejoice with the LORD, your church family, your friends and your relatives who know the LORD need to hear that you are encouraged by their faith and devotion to God. Well, you do not need to contact all of them, but in prayer ask the LORD to guide you. Someone most likely needs to hear from you today. I am so encouraged by you who read these devotionals, thank you!
