The Devotional

Papa “J” says

God seldom calls the qualified to do His work, so if He calls you; Just remember you are being numbered with God's best. He will equip you to win. Judges 6:11ff

Papa J's rules for Livin #2 - To be the last to speak in not always appropriate, unless of course; an apology is in order!

Some of us have heard this before, but it is worth repeating. A group of young people at Sunday School were asked, "How big is God?" A young girl raised her hand. “Yes”, replied to the Sunday School teacher, "Do you know the answer?" "I think so!" said the girl and with eyes wide open and with great confidence the child said, "God is so big, that He does not have to go anywhere!" I think the child nailed it. Psalm 139 Is God's perfect knowledge of man. God does not have to see us, to know us. The Omnipotence, Omnipresence and Omniscience of Him is an ever-surrounding that God is everywhere at once.To say that God is limited in any way, is to agree with the Sadducees when they questioned Jesus about the resurrection. Mark 12:18-27, Jesus explained that they were greatly mistaken Mark12:27. Someone once said that the Sadducees were properly named because, as a group of religious people they denied the resurrection power of God and that, that was why they were - "So" Sad you See!!!

Psalm 22

Psalm 22:14-16 The verses before us today can make us groan in the Spirit. I know that when I am filled with God the Holy Spirit and read passages such as these I can feel the suffering and agony of life melting away and of bones being pulled from the attaching sinews. As the strength of those tendons give way to the weight of a body that is hanging purposely to do that very thing. I thank the LORD for these moments as it helps me to understand to some degree His suffering.

If you've ever been where your body and mind does not want to be you can feel your system breaking down. There really is nothing you can do to prevent the inevitable, death is taking control and the vitals of living are giving way. The blood pressure drops, the heart races, the eyes open wide the tongue sticks to the roof of your mouth and your ears ring.

Then there is that sense of disintegrating or pulling away, when the substance of living begins to dissolve like stale bread right before your eyes and there is nothing you can do about but survey the reason. One last glimpse of just what is going on. It seems that ravenous dogs have taken control, they encircle and do harm, they have captured you and and secured to you, you cannot move. Then, I am reminded that He came to forgive, why because Romans 5:8 still applies.
