A Look at the Book #160

The Devotional
Papa “J” says
It is not necessary to cover your tracks if your heart is upright. When you allow the cleansing effect of God's Word keeps you pure. Thus the pure in heart are those who are daily covered by the Blood of the Lamb. A truth that only the upright will comprehend. Philippians 4:7-8
Good Morning
Once as a volunteer firefighter I went to an traffic accident involving a small pick-up truck and a semi-tractor and trailer. The Toyota truck was headed up an icy strip of roadway and the semi was headed down the road. The small pick-up could not maintain control and slid into the path of the oncoming semi. The driver of the semi shifted to the other lane to avoid the small truck. Things for the driver of the semi went bad, when the trailer shifted and slammed the little pick-up against the Jersey barriers on the side of the road. Normally a small Toyota pick-up is about four and a half feet wide, but as I approached the little truck I could see that it was now about 2 feet wide the full length of the little truck. I said, oh; oh; serious injuries in this one. But, to our surprise, the young driver of the pick-up was not injured at all. A student of a local college and he was a believer in Christ, he was very calm about the whole thing. The driver of the semi was more shook up, since he thought the driver of the pick-up would not survive such an impact. To me this proves that our lives are in the hands of God so why should we ever be foolish and step beyond His common grace, yet people do all the time and find themselves in an untimely moment.
Psalm 20
Psalm 20:1-9 Sometimes I feel that we have lost our sense of praying for others. If you avail yourself to circles of prayer in your church you cannot help but hear the prayer of others. These for me are defining moments of the people in prayer and the thoughts they are lifting up to our God and Savior. I believe that all prayer is important so I am not trying to encourage or discourage the efforts of anyone who is seeking answers to life problems that they feel God will help with. He helps even the widow find a lost coin on the floor of her place of abode.
But I would like for us to notice the intensity of David as he prays for his chief musician. Blessing after blessing is sought. Troubles cleared, strength provided, his offerings remembered and sacrifices made. Requests for his desires to be met, to fulfill his plan and purposes for life. To live in the salvation of the LORD and that God would answer all of his petitions. These are the things that are the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. Hebrews 11:1-2.
God hears the prayer of the the anointed, thus one must be filled with the Holy Spirit in prayer. It is that heavenly connection. Then we see the strength and power of God who will move our mountains of trouble because we have believed Him by faith. Salvation and deliverance is of the King of kings and He will answer when we call.
