A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God

Psalm 119:93 Can the Laws, Precepts, Testimonies or the Words of God change like the laws of human government? If God were to change even one of the smallest of these. Life would no longer exists! The power that maintains our universe is – GOD! 1 John 4:16-19

Good Morning

Many thoughts run through the country these days about the uncertainty of the future. This uncertainty prods me to talk about direction or purpose in life. It is a staggering thought to know that almost every person I talk with including many within the local church do not have a clear purpose for living life. This challenges me daily to look to the Word of the Living God and to say a few things that may challenge us. To move in the direction of looking upward, rather than looking forward at the confusing highways of a world that seems to most of us as spinning out of control. We have been living in the last days for over two thousand years and it does not take much wisdom to know that we are a lot closer to the return of the LORD Jesus than we were yesterday. I have some reasons to keep looking for the return of Christ and over the next ten or eleven days we will explore them. The reasons are not my own, they belong to the LORD, others have talked about this as well as myself, but our attention span for truth is somewhat like a sound bite in commercials on the television. We hit the MUTE button. First looking at 1 Corinthians 2:9 – Our humble estate suffers, but our eternal state will not. Also compare Isaiah 64:6 and 65:17. In order for us to have purpose in life we must KNOW that this estate here on earth is temporal and full of good and evil, there is an eternal estate where all things have been prepared new, this is where the river of Life exists – Revelation 22:1-5.

Romans 1

Romans 1:26 Mankind in his fallen estate is overflowing with sinful passion, we take great pains to protect our secrets by doing good. Even to the point of exposing the sins of others while we hide our own. God has given up the world in which we live to the free will choice to do; “good and evil” To many times we have said that good and evil does not mix, just like oil and water but this is wrong thinking. Look around, good gets along with evil very well. Actually, one compliments the other each day of our lives. When our evil is exposed to another, we quickly try to do good, this makes us feel better. Romans 7:7-25 challenges us to return to God who is our only source of help.

Romans 1:27 The portion of scripture we are looking at is where we are as a nation today. This increase of lust has pushed us to the brink of national destruction. Men chasing men and women chasing women to satisfy their sexual appetite. It is hard to look at these passages and the real reason is not because of wrongful activity, but because of the strength within this activity that is felt by every human being alive in our nation or world today. If there were no problem, then our governments would not be feeling the pressure to make laws to kill off our babies. To make same sex marriages lawful and there would be little attempt from organizations like the ACLU to silence the Word of the Living God.

Romans 1:28 The inventory of human life in our nation is being attacked by the worldly ambitions of ungodly people and we are standing around like statues with no eyes, no ears and no mouths. Ungodliness has a debased mind. Do we really know or care what that means? In means that these people have a “castaway mind” It means that they no longer do “good” and have become doers of “evil” only. Our conscience over these things is seared by the media and our complacency tells the real story. A little sleep a little slumber.... Proverbs 24:30-34.
