Daily Notes #12
by Jesse Abel
A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God
Psalm 119:92 The affliction of each day cannot be measured by any human standard of measurement, therefore the law of the LORD must be our delight, or we perish. This is good to know and even better if we live it!
Good Morning
I thought I would give us an update on Fatso and Skinny the two finch and the parakeet Cutie Pie. Since they moved into the other room across from me I do not get the opportunity to watch their daily attics but they are doing well. This morning for example, they listened to the rosary being said by two persons on the radio, the news and now a few very secular songs and as far as I know, they have not changed the radio station. We are a lot like the birds I think, its Monday, a little religion, a little news then back to the world around us. We are confronted daily with this, the bombardment of secular humanism is all around. Someone recently said that we went through an era of the “isms” and I thought of this as interesting and true. But I also know that the progressive knowledge of today has not rescued us from being a slave to the world around us. While we may not be classifying a religion, a movement or a system as an ism these days we are still bent on doing the good and evil things of this counterfeit kingdom we call the “world”. We have not escaped the seemingly tightening grip that Satan has on the world around us. You may be thinking; “So what do his birds have to do with all this about Satan's determined desire to control our world?” Romans 8:18-23. Creation is subjected to this same bondage of corruption and like us, those birds are eagerly awaiting deliverance too. Of course you have the right to say, “Oh tish-tosh, Jesse!” But if this were not true, then creation would be exempt from the suffering and death we humans experience daily.
Romans 1
Romans 1:23 Everything about the world we live in is decaying, man was given the responsibility of stewardship over creation. Instead of believing Truth from God, we believed the lie of Satan, if it were you or me in the Garden that day we would have done just as Adam and Eve did. We would have relinquished our kingdom authority to the devil, too. As a result the world worships the image of corrupted man and everything about this image is perishable. Nothing that man does is of any eternal value. On the backdrop of eternity our world has no power to survive since we worship the creature of God's creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever and ever.
Romans 1:24 To be unclean from God's point of view is to be absent from being pure. This does not mean that it is impossible to be pure, but it does mean that the door or the way to purity is no longer open and that the angels of God protect us from entering in on our own merit. Mankind by merit or goodness cannot return to purity under his or her own standard of conduct. Thus, the merit of one's conduct, is insufficient to satisfy God's demand. All that mankind does is done from the lust of the sinful heart that continually dishonors his or her image in the sight of God..
Romans 1:25 The condition of our fallen nature is not curable by any human effort, we like Adam have willing exchanged the truth for the lie. This counterfeit kingdom worships the creature We make him out to be anything; a bird or a tree, a rock or a some man made idol. The following passages are critical and accurate descriptions of the world we live in, but God has a personal love for each of us. We can be rescued from our unclean nature, but first we must look at the horrible condition of our heart before we look at the power of God to be redeemed back to Him through the Blood of Christ.
