A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God

Psalm 119:57 A dowry is the same as a portion, what is awesome is that a dowry is what a bride gives to her husband in marriage. All saints will be the bride of Christ, thus God is the same God; in the Old Testament, the New Testament and forever! Hebrews 13:8

Good Morning

When I lived in North Stonington, Connecticut I hiked through Lantern Hill on several occasion. The hill was not high, but the path does have one area near the edge but a quick hop and you are safe on the other side. A friend borrowed a motorcycle from one of our group, it was a street bike. He took the cycle to Lantern Hill and drove it up the path, at that one semi-dangerous edge he lost control and down the hill he went. The cycle slammed into a large boulder and my friend did likewise. After about twelve hours we went searching for him. No one expected him to go up Lantern Hill, so none of us looked there. Finally he did show up, he was injured, cold and dirty, but he was alive. We asked him why did he take that cycle on the dirt path, they call it a street bike for a reason? His answer; “I thought I could handle it. One of the major obstacles of life is believing the lie that, “I can handle it” When we say this in our heart we are doom to fail at some point. The problem is that we think that because we have learned to do one or two things right that we have all the facts of life and we need no further help from God or the people around us. This is a dangerous walk on thin ice, the most untrustworthy person in your life is... well, just go look in the mirror and you will see them staring back at you, then I won't have to be the one to tell you. Oh, I forgot, this is not a suggestion, but a command in the word of God. Proverbs 3:1-8.

Acts 16

Acts 16:25 There are moments in life when it looks hopeless, but this is not the case here in the jail. Paul and Silas are praying and singing hymns and the prisoners were listening. What a testimony and what a time of worship. Is God willing to do these things today? The simple answer is; Yes! The reason that we fail to see this that there are not many of us today who would put themselves in harms way for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even the mission field suffers from a spiritual deficit.

I will be going to the men's prayer breakfast in the morning, an I need to catch up on some sleep. These emails tell the truth. This morning I fell asleep and slept through most of my thoughts, tonight I am doing the same. I will stop here and refresh and reload for Monday, In the meantime have a great and godly weekend, because what good is a good weekend if God is not in it.

Last night the CCF men's ministry team hosted Dave Jauss, the bench coach for the Baltimore Orioles. We have a great time, but the highlight of the event was his testimony of accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior. You can read about his testimony at: www.TheGoal.com
