Take Note #67

A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God

Psalm 119:47 What do you mean that I should fall in love with the Commandments of God? I barely like a few of them and you want me to fall in love with all of them – Impossible! This is the mindset of those who do not know the Holy Spirit; the Old Testament definition of the fear of the LORD!

Good Morning

Here is a little secret about submarines. One that I am not really sure that I should talk about, but it is over twenty years since I retired and who knows, maybe I cannot recall it like it really is, but if I explain it at all you will get the drift. Submarines do not sink like surface ships. (Now see the cat is already out of the bag). When a surface ship sinks, people have the opportunity to jump ship and be rescued, but when a submarine sinks that opportunity is not available, the exception to this is if the submarine is on the surface. If a sub sinks in waters where it is recoverable, many of the men will still be alive for several days. Once the sub is located, ships on the surface can provide, hot soup, fresh water and air to the men below through valves on the ships outer hull. Also, in order to pinpoint the location of the sub there are emergency flotation buoys that can be released. The scuttlebutt (conversation around the water cooler) is that the hatches to the flotation buoys are welded shut and the valves on the outer hull can be used to put the crew asleep forever if that were ever needed. But that is the military for you – always playing by the rules.

Acts 14

Acts 14:8-10 Though I speak... (1 Corinthians 13:1) It is the Holy Spirit that detects faith it the unbelieving world around us and it is by the power of the Creator that people who are without hope get to know the only One who can give Hope. Unbelievers are crippled from the womb (Psalm 51:5). On the day that you and I expressed faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our soul leaped and we walked for the very first time in presence of Jesus with a clean white soul.

Acts 13:11-14 The devil may be defeated but that does not mean that he goes away quietly. His nature is that of a starving lion, his attack is immediate. He has lost the young lame man, now he turns his attention to Paul and Barnabas. The devil cannot reverse the miracle of rebirth, but he can attempt to destroy the testimonies of these two men who are called “apostles” here in verse 14. If he is victorious in this effort, the rest of the people in Lystra will stay in the lame condition of idolatry.

Acts 13:15-18 We as believers in Jesus Christ are always in battle, even with verse 18 we see the battle is still active, even in the later verses of this chapter, also. Satan has a cruel system, if one plan does not work, he has a backup that is just as cruel. He is not an amateur, he has practiced his deceptive tactics for thousands of years. He is indescribably wicked, brilliantly evil and has a hideous presence of beauty that sets up the world for destruction. (Isaiah 14:12-19 and Ezekiel 28:14-19).
