Take Note #66

A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God

Psalm 119:46 Men like Daniel and Jeremiah are shining examples of those who have taken a stand for Righteousness and Justice. We do not shine like these men today, because we fail to be Holy and that is a shame!

Good Morning

Ever so often you come across a picture or phrase that catches your attention and that is what happened when I saw the picture above. According to the elephant in the picture life is good, a cool refreshing shower on a hot summer day. The pleasure of it all is written all over it's face. It is a moment in time when all is going well. In these days of our lives one might wish that they could experience the same kind of blissful existence. Our world is changing rapidly, we need to remind ourselves again and again that life for the average American is going to change. Some years ago I was on a submarine that nearly sank, the only reason we survived is because God had other plans for us. When the last effort to bring the submarine to the surface was exhausted we were in God's Hand and everyone of us on board knew it. I do not believe that the United States can manufacture enough paper money to cover the cost of living free, in fact; we are not free, we are in debt. We are like a bunch of punch drunk sailors looking for our next drink. The economy is very bad, the rights of the Constitution of the United States are being violated from the very top. We have corrupted our values, destroyed our traditions and compromised our belief in One God, One Nation, Indivisible with freedom and justice for all. I guess in some ways we are like the elephant. “Enjoy the moment as the water may soon stop running.”

Acts 14

Acts 14:1-2 The thought of having a day to share the gospel with a group of people and having many of them to come to faith in Jesus Christ is awesome. I sometimes wonder if this is possible these days. We have the means of sharing our faith with millions of people at once. Mr. Billy Graham in his day was able to fill ball fields, leading many to faith. His ministry is still very active today, being led by his son Franklin. Is this opportunity to share Jesus with others just for a few called ones. No, we are called too!

Acts 13:3-5 It may just be that we are intimidated by those who reject faith in Christ and begin to stir up trouble. No one likes the trouble that comes from false accusation, nor do we like it when people threaten us with harm because we seek to bring truth to a dying neighborhood. There are two cities in the Bible, one is called Sodom and the other is Gomorrah. These places are much like our neighborhoods today. Lot did nothing for a long time and when he did do something, he was forced because his faith was polluted with worldly influence.

Acts 13:6-7 Where should we flee to, take a look around; Canada, Mexico, Brazil or some other country across the oceans. All are corrupt, all are in need of hearing the gospel. We need to stay home and speak out. If we do not pray and seek to bring the lost to Jesus then we are in jeopardy of falling from grace, just as Israel has fallen from grace. Jerusalem fell in AD 70 along with that fall, temple worship ceased and God's economy for sharing the wealth of the gospel was given to the gentile. One day soon, He will give it back to Israel, only this time Jesus will be on David's Throne – Forever!
