Take Note #64

A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God
Psalm 119:44 I ponder the thought, do I really mean that I will keep the Law of God forever? Am I really happy with the thought of continually walking in the counsel of His proven way? Well, He knows me better than I know myself. “Oh LORD! You know, You know – and for me that is sufficient!”
Good Morning
I am reminded of the young carpenter who was roofing a house. As the time went by and he began to tire from all his labor He slipped and began rolling toward the edge of the roof. Being about two and a half stories up and gathering speed as he rolled, great fear overwhelmed him and he cried out to God to save him. Just as he rolled over the edge, one of the gutter nails grabbed hold of his outer garment. His fall was stopped and he was saved. His immediate reply was, "Thanks anyway God, as you see this nail was available and it stopped me from falling." Just then the nail broke! Our God is faithful in all things, we cannot forget that even the nails of life have a specific purpose and if we are to trust them, it must be first; through the tested and proven trustworthiness of God. Trust and trusting is the character found in people with a meek and humble countenance, like the people referred to in (Zephaniah 3:12-13), these are a remnant of people who know how to trust in the name of the LORD. They do not practice unrighteous living, they do not lie, their tongue is pure of deceit and no one shall shackle them in fear. These four factors, lying deceit, unrighteous behavior and human fear are the main reasons we cannot trust. The LORD states clearly through the apostle Peter that He cares about our concerns related to the subject of faithfulness. (2 Peter 1:5-11).
Acts 13
Acts 13:34-36 Paul continues; this same God who carried us throughout history has now revealed that His covenant with Abraham will be fulfilled through the One who sits on the throne of David. Not David himself whose tomb is with us today, but the One who says elsewhere; “I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” This is what the LORD says in (Revelation 1:8)
Acts 13:37-39 God the Father raised up God the Son in order for the Covenant of Land, Seed and Blessing to be fulfilled. The covenant given to Abram really begins to develop while Abram is still in Ur. (Genesis 12:1-3), these events of history are the outworking of God while Abram is still a gentile and citizen of Ur. So, as Israel goes, so goes the nations of the world. These are three. The Jew, the Gentile and the Saint, From two stiff necked nations, God makes One nation of Blessing.
Acts 13:40-41 So we should be very cautious since the prophets do have conditional warnings to all of us who call upon the name of the LORD for blessing. This work of God is unbelievable by human understanding. We bend and twist the truth to fit a religious ambition and in doing so we may miss the most important matters; which are; “What matters to God the Father!” This is my Beloved Son – Hear ye Him! (2 Peter 2:16-21).
