Take Note #63

A Devotional Study of the Living Word of God
Psalm 119:43 Trusting in the Word should never be taken as routine or mundane. This would be a loss of respect or a loss of biblical fear of the LORD! A word of truth spoken properly is like an ornament of gold framed in a picture of silver, Proverbs 25:11 thus we would retain our sweet words.
Good Morning
Written in the Song of Solomon are the words; “Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore the virgins love you” (Song of Solomon 1:3). Very few of us are so highly esteemed that when our name is spoken there is an immediate peace to flood the heart of the hearer, even the innocent, (apart from the name of Jesus) cannot find a trustworthy name to feel safe. We place people in positions of integrity, give them oaths to recite and provide for them every opportunity to be a disciple of truth, integrity and purpose. We even give people the ointment of gladness and hearty counsel (Proverbs 27:9). At the very best of this adornment stands a whitewashed tombstone. Nothing more than lawyers and religious leaders – faces of promise covering a heart with flies in the ointment. (Ecclesiastes 10:1) There is another side to this train of thought, that; If you stack the deck in your favor, it only means that you are seeking to control the moment and sway the mind of the innocent. This to is and ointment of ill repute, so it is not by works of so called righteousness that anyone does that can make a difference. Someone recently said “Words! just words!” a stacking of the deck. The innocent (of course; in faith only) can be making a difference and this is as simple as (Proverbs 21:1-2). Prayer is the only change that WORKS!
Acts 13
Acts 13:13-19 The adventure of the Jew as Israel traveled from captivity to promise. This is where theologies today tend to spin the wheels of confusion. Four basic theologies spring up from the covenant that God gave to Abraham; these are Amillennialism, Postmillennialism, Historic Premillennialism and Dispensational Premillennialism. A matter of interpretation of whether or not the Covenant was “conditional or unconditional” the decision of correct or incorrect interpretation is not solved here. Not by me or any one person of theological preference. It can only be solved by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 13:20-23 As Israel moved from infancy as a nation to a kingdom, God showed preferential treatment to the nation. He gave them what they wanted. A kingdom they could govern by their own human effort; a democracy rather than a theocracy. All things considered, the Jew is no different than the gentile (I'll do it my way). Yet, we do not see God's purpose or plan knocked off course. Scripture is fulfilled, Jesus is born a Jew, not an Italian (Roman). The covenant has physical and spiritual conditions that are being filled unconditionally by the covenant Maker.
Acts 13:24-33 With John the Baptizer proclaiming the fulfillment of “blessing” in the person of Jesus Christ we find that both the Jew as the nation Israel and the Romans as the gentile nation reject the blessing, they destroy Him. Physically the world accomplishes the task, but spiritually there is victory and the “Blessing” is realized, to the Jew first and also to the gentile. (Romans 3:27-31) there will be more on this as we travel through the book of Acts.
